Arthur C. "Artie" Van Housen's Obituary
Arthur C. “Artie” Van Housen, 61, of Liverpool, NY, passed away at home on January 20, 2023. He was born in Paterson, NJ, son of the late Arthur and Barbara (Cook) Van Housen. Art wrestled at Cicero High School and graduated in 1979. He worked as a self-employed landscaper and pool installer for most of his life. Art loved sports; he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and coached his son’s Little League Baseball for many years. He also loved animals, and was a car enthusiast, owning several hot rods throughout his life. Art had a great sense of humor, loved taking care of people and would do anything for you.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his in-laws, Peter and Josephine Italiano.
Art is survived by his wife, Freida (Italiano) Van Housen; his son, Arthur P. Van Housen (Kierstyn Higgins); his daughter, Alessandra Van Housen (Blair Neal); siblings, Eliza (Mike) Indick and Matthew Van Housen; his niece and goddaughter, Erica (Austin) Wingo; niece, Erica DeStefano; nephew, Justin Kimber; sister-in-law, Joanne (Mark) Kimber, along with several cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Art’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at St. Daniel’s Church, 3004 Court St., Syracuse, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
