Barbara (Jones) Gialto's Obituary
Barbara (Jones) Gialto, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024. Barbara was born in Oneida, NY to the late John and Helena (Barkley) Jones. Upon graduating high school, she was employed with the Niagara Mohawk Power Company for over 40 years until her retirement. She was an animal lover, rescuing a retired racehorse, Neptune, and caring for their beloved dog, Major. Barbara also volunteered for the ASPCA on abuse/animal cruelty cases. She was a supporter of the American Red Cross, and honorary member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America Association, and the Salina Seniors Club. Barbara also volunteered for the Honor Flight Syracuse on many trips. Barbara was also a member of the NiMo/National Grid Retirees Club. She was a photographer, especially taking photos of Florida wildlife during the many winters she spent there with her husband. Barbara had a close relationship with God and was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Most of all, she will be remembered for her love of family and her wonderful sense of humor.
Along with her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, John, and her two sisters, Phyllis Elaine Maroney and Donna C. Spring.
She is survived by her brother-law, Dr. John M. Spring, her nieces, Lisa B. Spring, Jill M. Spring-DeLucia and Heather A. Spring, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, Hanna M. and John P. DeLucia, Jackson T. and Lilah S. Clark, along with cousins, and friends.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Barbara’s life will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Epiphany Parish (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church) 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
