Barbara L. Santaro's Obituary
Barbara L. Santaro, 89, of Dewitt, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Crouse Hospital. She was raised on the Northside of Syracuse and was a graduate of North High School, before living in DeWitt for 61 years.
Barbara was a loving, doting, aunt—the best of babysitters, who could always be prevailed upon for an ice cream cone and staying up late to catch an episode of Murder, She Wrote. She loved nothing more than gathering with her family for food and fun.
In her later life, she found a job she loved and thrived at, working at Wegmans in DeWitt, demonstrating and handing out samples and greeting everyone with her customary good cheer. As a bonus, she made so many good friends there.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Theresa (Bennati) and Michael Santaro, brother, Anthony S. Santaro; and her brothers-in-law, Daniel G. Angeloro, and Joseph Rachetta.
Barbara is survived by her two sisters, Joanne Rachetta, and Jeanette Angeloro; 10 much loved nieces and nephews, Michael Santaro, Anthony Santaro, Louis Santaro, Terese Santaro-Gustke, Robert Santaro, Paul Rachetta, Michael Rachetta, Maria Simpson, Theresa Noble, and Nicole Angeloro; 14 great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesse St., Dewitt. Private entombment will be in the family mausoleum at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
