Beatrice (Bradshaw) Malfitano's Obituary
Beatrice B. Malfitano, a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and community pillar, passed away on January 31, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in the city of Syracuse on October 10, 1928, Beatrice was the fourth child of Arthur and Maude Bradshaw, who instilled in her a deep sense of family and community.
A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Beatrice grew up in Elmwood and had a vibrant spirit as she graduated from Nottingham High School. Early in her career, she worked at Syracuse Supply Company and IBM. After marrying Dr. Anthony Malfitano in 1949, she gracefully transitioned into her new role, as married women were not permitted to work at the company. She dedicated herself to managing her husband's dental practice while raising their seven children in a lively household.
Beyond her devotion to family, she also focused on her community. Her passion for service was evident through her volunteer work with the Crouse Irving Hospital Auxiliary, where she proudly served multiple terms as President. Her leadership extended to the Boards of Francis House Auxiliary, St. Camillus, and Providence House Apartments. Additionally, she co-chaired the Town of Onondaga Bicentennial celebration, fostering joy and unity in her beloved town.
Her enthusiasm was infectious, particularly during her years as co-President of the Syracuse University Parents Association alongside her husband. Together, they fostered connections and created lasting memories for countless families.
Bea’s legacy is one of love and resilience. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Anthony A. Malfitano. She leaves behind a rich legacy of family: seven children—Marc (Jeanette); Gregory (Barbara); Clee (J. Michael) Hadley; Christopher (Jayne); Timothy; Scott (Marika); and Matthew (Patricia)—along with thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit.
As we celebrate Beatrice's remarkable life, we remember her as a beacon of strength and warmth whose kindness filled every room. Her unwavering dedication to family and community has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her. May her memory inspire us to live fully and love deeply, just as she did.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Medical/Surgical floor at Upstate Community Hospital for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 9:30 am – 10:45 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs Road Fayetteville, NY, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Beatrice’s life at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.
