Bernard J. Mahoney's Obituary
Bernard J. Mahoney, of Syracuse, passed away July 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Bernie attended St. Anthony’s school and graduated from CBA and Le Moyne College. Bernie served with the U.S. Army at Ladd Army Airfield in Fairbanks, Alaska. Bernie was employed with IBM and is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law. He practiced with the Mackenzie Law Firm and was the owner/founder of Niagara Computer Sales, Inc. Bernie also served as a member of the Syracuse Common Council and NYS Assembly. Bernie was a member of Most Holy Rosary Church.
He is predeceased by his parents, Bernard A., and Mable (Relfe) Mahoney, sister, Eileen McGuire and brother, James R. Mahoney.
Bernie is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joanne (Goodsell) Mahoney and their 9 children, Shelly, Bernie, Mary, Patrick, Joanie, Mike, Kevin, Kathy, Matt, and their spouses; 17 grandchildren, Jack, Max, Luke, and Nate Overdyk; Madeline, Ellie, and Mary Mahoney; Conor, Alice, Patrick, and Rosie Mahoney; Katie, Annie, Ben, and Molly Pratt; Emily and Brian Mahoney; and his sister, Linda Menter.
A funeral mass in celebration of Bernie’s life will take place on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. in Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave. Syracuse. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Family and friends may call on Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
