Betty Dean Meckes' Obituary
Betty Dean (Wood) Meckes, 85, of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026. She was born in Elmira to the late Edson Wood and Valeda (Colegrove) VanHorn.
Betty worked in the Billing Department at Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, taking care of her dogs and she loved the water, especially Seneca Lake.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Meckes.
She is survived by her children, Dean E. (Peggy McDermott) Meckes and Jacqueline (Pasquale) DiFlorio; her grandchildren, Christen LaFlame, Ryan Meckes, Brianne (John) Dimmick, and Chelsea (Ashley) Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Camryn LaFlame; Hunter LaFlame, Jackson Dimmick, Savannah Dimmick, and Mila Desormeau; along with her step-sister, Janet Brown.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
