Beverly A. (Hicks) Travers' Obituary
Beverly A. (Hicks) Travers, 87, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Crouse Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was born in Fayetteville, NY, daughter of the late Fred and Wava (Chapman) Hicks. She went to school in a one room school house in Fayetteville and still has monthly luncheons with some of her school mates. Beverly was employed over 40 years in women’s health, and worked as an office manager with Dr. Michael Klein’s office.
She enjoyed many years camping in motor homes with her friends, touring across country. Beverly taught water aquatics for several years in Syracuse and Solvay through the Arthritis Foundation. She loved to go out to eat and arranged monthly luncheons with her swimming group. She also enjoyed her weekly visits to Syracuse Home to see her close friends that she played cards with, along with friendships she formed with others at McHarrie Towne.
Beverly especially loved her great-granddaughters and enjoyed playing with them whenever they were together. She was so caring and devoted to everyone, always putting them first before herself. She was always laughing and loved life to the fullest. Beverly was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Raymond Travers in 2001, her daughter, Barbara Beaumont, five brothers, and two sisters.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Joseph) Cutrone; her grandchildren, Joseph (Paula) Cutrone, Shannon (Corey) Fitzpatrick, Kara Cutrone and Jim DeSantis; great-granddaughters, Regan Fitzpatrick and Sophia Rose DeSantis; her sister, Nancy (Mike) DiGiulio, along with several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service in celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
