Biagio Vito Russo's Obituary
Biagio Vito Russo, 87, of Cicero, passed away at Iroquois Nursing Home on April 20, 2021. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Charles and Salvatrice (Polizzi) Russo. Biagio graduated from St. Lucy’s Academy High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Biagio worked for the United States Postal Service as a Branch Manager in the Eastwood Station, retiring in 2003 after 37 dedicated years. He was an avid Syracuse football and basketball fan with season tickets for 30 years. He also enjoyed watching baseball, his favorite team was the NY Yankees. He was very active in Lyncourt Little League as a coach and League Coordinator. Biagio loved spending time with family going out to dinner and attending his grandchildren’s activities from baseball to hockey to music and theatre.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Tony, Pauline, Joe, Josie, Sebastina, Angelo, Sebastian, and Delores. Biagio is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline (Morabito) Russo; three children, Tara (Peter) Ludden, Charles (Lisa) Russo and Annette Russo; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol and Rosie, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church of Cicero on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 9:30 – 10:30 am, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Biagio’s life at 10:45 am at the church, 8229 Brewerton Rd., Cicero, NY. Entombment with Military Honors will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
