Bonnie Grace (Ball) Kershner's Obituary
Bonnie Grace (Ball) Kershner, 84, of Cicero, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, with her beloved husband, Gene, by her side. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late James and Grace (McGovern) Ball. Bonnie was a January 1962 graduate of Kutztown State, and married her husband of 63 years, Gene, a week later. She was a substitute teacher for the North Syracuse School District, before founding and directing the Luther Memorial Nursery School Program in 1975 and remaining there until her retirement in 2002. Bonnie was an avid SU fan and longtime season ticket holder, she enjoyed her winters in Delray Beach and Singer Island, Florida, and enjoyed gardening and dancing.
Bonnie’s children and grandchildren were her life, she could always be found at one of their sporting events cheering them on, and always enjoyed large family gatherings around the holidays, or even just random visits throughout the year. There was nothing she enjoyed more than being with her children and grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Bonnie is predeceased by her sister, Barbara D’Angelo.
Bonnie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Gene G. Kershner; her 3 sons, Eugene “Bud” (Shaena), Gregory (Sheri), and Geoffrey (Melissa) Kershner; 11 grandchildren, Emily, Evan, Anthony, Domenic, Natalie, Brennan, and Annalise Kershner, Scott Kershner (Jamie Leigh Simaan), and Jennifer (Thomas) Pirro III; and Kyle, and Kevin Kershner; her brother, James R. Ball, Jr.; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M., immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Bonnie’s life at 12:00 P.M. in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) Syracuse, NY 13212. Bonnie will be laid to rest privately in North Syracuse Cemetery.
