Brian J. Warren 's Obituary
Brian J. Warren, 56, of Syracuse, NY went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
“I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for him a crown of righteousness”.
Brian was born July 5, 1963 in Syracuse, NY to William and Catherine (Bernhardt) Warren. He devoted his life to his family and his Roman Catholic faith, always living by the beatitudes. Brian received his sacraments at Saint John the Baptist Church, where he was an active member for over 30 years. Brian spent many years researching the history of St. John the Baptist Church, which resulted in the church being recognized as the oldest church in the diocese. The Ancient Order of Hibernians celebrated a 200th anniversary Mass at St. Johns this past year where Brian was recognized for his dedicated and determined research. These historical documents are accessible at Le Moyne College, The Syracuse Historical Society and the Diocese Archives. They are being compiled into a book soon to be published. As a result of his devotion and support to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Brian was inducted as an associate member.
Brian was a "Jack-of-all-trades", helping everyone he could. He worked for many years at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He retired from the Syracuse City School District. He was a brilliant scholarly man who shared his passions for research, history, theology, and astronomy. His impact on the lives of others was insurmountable. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Brian was truly blessed.
Brian is predeceased by his mother, Catherine Warren, and sisters, Mary Warren and Deborah Keene. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherri Finch; daughters, Kathleen (Donald) Garn, and Renee (Brian) Freeman; grandchildren, Lillyana, Elaina, Isaac, and Brandon; his father, William S. Warren; brothers, William and Robert (Betty) Warren; sisters, Kathleen Warren, Diane (Steve) Goly, and Sandy (John) Wells, along with several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, December 13, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Brian’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Church, 406 Court St., Syracuse, NY. Interment will take place at noon on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse, NY.
