Carlo (Carl) Novara's Obituary
Carlo (Carl) Novara, 81, of Liverpool, NY went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Elder Wood Health Care. He was born in Dunkirk, NY on November 30, 1929. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Carl obtained a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Fredonia and a Master's Degree at Syracuse University. He was a Teacher at Liverpool Central Schools and a Guidance Counselor at Phoenix Central Schools. Carl had many interests, he was an avid golfer, gardener and loved hunting and fishing, he also enjoyed creating oil paintings. Carl loved making his own wine. He was a pioneer in the wood burning stove business, known as "Liverpool Wood Burning Stoves." Carl enjoyed helping people and was a volunteer for "Meals on Wheels." He loved his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jennifer C. Viau. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, the former Claudette Bechard; his children, Daniel F. (Lori) Novara of Liverpool; Gina M. (David) Viau of Voorheesville, NY; Lisa A. (David) Freytag of Pennellville and Michael D. Novara of Syracuse; grandchildren, James P. Viau, Kristin F. Larson, Timothy J. Novara and Jenna L. Freytag; also a sister, Florence (Forbes) Bannister of Erie, PA. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 9:00 AM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 10:00 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Liverpool where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
