Carmel C. Scaffido's Obituary
Carmel C. Scaffido, 67, of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday at his home. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of Peter and Verna (Capriotti) Scaffido. Carmel served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Carmel was employed with Miller Brewery for 20 years where he was awarded Citizen of the Year in 1985. He recently retired from St. Joseph's Hospital. Carmel was an avid NY Yankees fan. He was also a classic car enthusiast, often participating in classic auto shows around the area. Carmel enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his beloved grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, Verna (Capriotti) Scaffido. Carmel is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elia (DiNatale) Scaffido; three children, Peter A. Scaffido of Liverpool, Joseph S. Scaffido of Ithaca and Gina M. Scaffido of Syracuse; two grandchildren, Alexander J. and Hannah Y. Scaffido; his father, Peter A. Scaffido of Syracuse; a sister, Diane M. (Luciano) Bianco of Liverpool along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and Noon in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
