Carmela (Bugge) Corasaniti's Obituary
Carmela Corasaniti, 94, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2021 with her family by her side.
She was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy to the late Carmen and Natalie (Oliveri) Bugge.
Carmela came to America to be with her family. She met the love of her life, Peter Corasaniti. In their 62 years of marriage, they shared many happy memories with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.
Carmela worked side by side with her husband at the Franklin Lunch & Grill. She was a great cook, and everyone loved her homemade Italian Lasagna and sauce. Her favorite pastimes were gardening and canning tomatoes. She always welcomed anyone who came to their home and no one ever left hungry.
She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family, especially on the holidays.
Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Pietro “Peter” Corasaniti; as well as 9 siblings, Vincent, Maria, Domenico, Rosa, Teresa, Domenica, Annuziata, Antonio and Francesco
Carmela is survived by her 2 children, Caterina (Anthony) Verginio, and Joseph (Joanne) Corasaniti; her 6 grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Nilsson, Cara (Sean) Noonan, Peter (Ashley) Corasaniti, Ashley Corasaniti, Michael Verginio, Ryan (Megan) Verginio; 9 great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church 301 Ash St. Syracuse, NY 13208. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse. To attend the funeral mass remotely, please visit Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Facebook page at 10:30 am on Monday, May 17. Family and friends may call on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carmela’s name may be made to Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church 301 Ash St. Syracuse, NY 13208.
