Carmela "Melina" Idone Leone's Obituary
Carmela “Melina” Idone Leone, 87, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at James Square. She was born in Italy, and resided in Syracuse for 46 years. Melina retired from Learbury's Clothing and St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, and her nephew.
Melina is survived by her nieces and nephews, Domenico Idone of Ottawa; Giovanna Idone (Joé) of Montreal; Angela, Antonino, Vincenzo and Carmela Idone and their families of Italy; beloved cousin of the Chirico's of Syracuse: Antonietta (the late Carmelo) Chirico, Vincenzo Chirico, Angela Briguglia, Domenic Chirico, Patty Nappi-Dery, Antonietta Pallota, as well as many other cousins in Syracuse, Canada and Italy.
Melina’s family wishes to thank all the nurses, doctors and aids on D-29 and 2 North at James Square, and a special thank you goes out to Antonietta Chirico for all of her love, care, support and compassion.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Melina’s life at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
