Carmella M. (Pistilli) Cariota's Obituary
Carmella M. (Pistilli) Cariota, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at James Square Nursing Home. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of Peter and Jennie (Giangiobbi) Pistilli. Carmella was a bookkeeper with Orsino Plumbing and Heating Company for several years. She was a member of the St. Anthony Society and held various offices for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, playing cards, SU Basketball and crocheting, afghans were her specialty. She also loved going to the casino's, especially her trips to Las Vegas and spending time at Panther Lake. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruno "Brownie" Cariota in 2006 and her sister, Josephine Straub. Carmella is survived by her daughter, Marianne Humenick (Richard Babowicz) of North Syracuse; her son, Frank (Kathy) Cariota of Panther Lake; granddaughter, Kimberly Ward of Wilmington, NC; sister, Theresa Maiorano of Syracuse along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Carmella's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Floor 1 South at James Square. Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church.
