Carmella M. (Ventra) Cox Shattuck's Obituary
Carmella M. (Ventra) Cox Shattuck, 89, of Baldwinsville, passed away Wednesday at Elderwood at Liverpool. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Carmelo and Dominica (Curatola) Ventra. Carmella was employed as a Reservations Supervisor with US Air for 25 years. She was an avid and very skilled card player. Carmella loved spending time with her family; she devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Conliff Cox; her second husband, William Shattuck; two brothers, Angelo and Anthony Ventra, and her niece, Robin Nicolli.
Carmella is survived by four children, Robert Cox of Boca Raton, FL., Richard (Christine) Cox of Baldwinsville, Deborah Saldo of Liverpool, and Jean Sayer of Baldwinsville; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her sister, Grace (Ronald) Nicolli of Liverpool, along with many nieces and nephews.
Carmella’s family would like to thank Elderwood at Liverpool for their loving care over the past 2 ½ years.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Carmella’s life at 9:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
