Carmella Dateno's Obituary
Carmella Dateno, 77, of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday at Upstate University Hospital. She was born in Girardville, PA, and resided in the Syracuse area for most of her life. Carmella was an underwriter with Nationwide Insurance for 40 years. She was a member of the St. Theresa Society at Our Lady of Pompei Church and also volunteered with the church food pantry for many years. Carmella was always willing to lend a helping hand for others. She will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Angeline Dateno and her sister and best friend, Mary Cerio. Carmella is survived by her siblings, Bernadine Dateno of California, Frank Dateno of Lakeland, FL and William (Betty-Ann) Dateno of Springfield, VA; her brother-in-law, John N. Cerio; ten nieces and nephews, Mark Cerio, John Cerio, Judi Cerio, Danny Dateno, George Dateno, Sister Maria Grace, Jenny White, Elizabeth Pilon, Sarah Kramer and Emily Costello along with 25 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carmella's family would like express a special thank you to Gloria, Chamequa and Tyniesha, her aids at Loretto; all the nursing staff on 9G at Upstate, especially Renee, Jen S., Roz, Jill and Jen M. and also to her special friends, Ann and Jim Mahar for their kindness and support.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 9:00 am in THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd. ) North Syracuse on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
