Carmella "Amy" Gonzalez's Obituary
Carmella “Amy” (Cardone) Gonzalez, 86, of Liverpool, passed away at Crouse Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of Rose (DiMento) and Michael Cardone. Amy was employed with Onondaga County Children and Family Services. She loved traveling with her husband of 69 years. Amy enjoyed spending time at camp on Southwick Beach and especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and taking care of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents and five siblings.
Amy is survived by her loving husband, Franklin Gonzalez; her 6 children, Ronald J. (Fran) Gonzalez of Cicero, Gayle (George) Checksfield of Liverpool, Karen (Tom) Case of Liverpool, Michelle Russell of Liverpool, Melissa (Jeff) Deshaies of Chittenango and Franklin (Ronda) Gonzalez II of South Dakota; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose Cresce of Syracuse, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Amy’s life at 9:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
