Carmella "Mel" LaRosa's Obituary
Carmella "Mel" (Giglio) LaRosa, 83, passed away on Wednesday in Palm Harbor, Florida. She was born in Syracuse and lived in Palm Harbor for 25 years. Mel retired from Niagara Mohawk after 33 years, where she worked in System Accounting. She was also active with Niagara Mohawk's girls golf and bowling leagues. Mel modeled for many exclusive stores for the Post Standard shows at the War Memorial and Hotel Syracuse. She was predeceased by her brother, Sam Giglio and her sister, Sally Hnatko. Mel is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Leonard LaRosa; brother, Frank Giglio of Baldwinsville; sister, Mary (Nicholas) Barricella of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088. If you need them, they will be there.
