Carmella (Farnett) Mancini, 93, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday at James Square Health and Rehabilitation Centre surrounded by her loving family. Carmella was born in Syracuse, to John and Laura (Basile) Farnett. She was a member of the St. Therese Society and Our Lady of Pompei Church. She influenced her family by her support for many small business endeavors. Among those was Mancini's Family Restaurant. Her unconditional devotion to her family serves as a hallmark of her life. Her passions were her family, friends, and cooking. Her cooking was legendary and her home was a place of welcome, warmth, music and laughter. The kitchen lights in heaven just went on when she arrived.
Carmella was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Joe Mancini, who as her caretaker went ahead to prepare the way for his beloved wife. In addition to her husband and her parents, she is also predeceased by her sisters, Tina Mancini, Rose DeMascole, and Betty Russo; her brothers-in-law: Armand "Babe" Mancini, John Fortino and John Russo. Carmella is survived by her son, Joseph Mancini of Syracuse and her daughters, Elise LaValle (John) of Syracuse, and Andrea Liberati (Joe) of Syracuse; Grandchildren, Michael LaValle, Laurie Dawley (Paul), Lisa Liberati, Lauren Liberati and Joseph Liberati; Great-Grandchildren, John, Michael, Christopher and Jimmy Lavalle, and Laura and Elyse Dawley. Also surviving is her sister Angie Fortino and her brother and sister-in-law Angelo and Grace Mancini, along with several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews who will cherish "Aunt Carms" memory.
Funeral Services will be held Monday June 24, 2013 at 11:00am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME followed by a Mass of Christian burial at NOON in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church . A private burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Monday June 24, 2013 from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
