Carmella Montanaro's Obituary
It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we announce the earthly parting of our sweet, beautiful sister, Carmella Montanaro, on Friday, July 29, 2022. While her family and friends are heartbroken by her sudden passing, they are deeply thankful and thank God for the gift of her love, her joy, and her life.
Carmella was a gentle spirit who loved the simple pleasures in life. She loved spending time with her family, close friends, and especially her cats who she considered her children. Carmella also enjoyed a long car ride filled with good music, singing songs, and laughter, all while donning her most recent pair of stylish sunglasses.
Carmella was the consummate artist; she had an innate sense of beauty and was dedicated to perfecting the design and craftmanship of her handmade works of art. Her designs came strictly from imagination, using no preconceived patterns or templates. She loved to share her art with her family and people far and wide. It was more important for her to share the love of her art than selling her craft- often giving away her work to someone who admired it. One couldn’t speak about Carmella’s passion for aesthetics without mentioning her eccentric fashion sense- she could put together an outfit complete with a stylish hat, a fun pair of earrings, and a colorful blouse. She always complimented her sisters on their choice of clothing.
Carmella was our sister and the wind beneath our wings whom we all loved so dearly. In her wake, she has left a legacy of unsurpassed love and joy in our lives.
In addition to her parents, the late Cosimo and Laura (Galuppo) Montanaro, she is predeceased by her feline children, Pumkin, Spooky, Slick, and Bella.
Carmella is survived by her siblings, David (Mary) Montanaro, Anna (Bob) Edenfield, Nancy Crowe, Rose Hayes, Andrew (Carolyn) Montanaro, Laura (Eric Paul Fournier) Montanaro, and Mary (Doug Peltier) Montanaro; her nieces and nephews, Michael (Loren Cunningham) Montanaro, Maria (Davis) Rust, Michelle Montanaro, Nicholas Hayes, Melissa Crowe, Andrew Crowe, Sophia Montanaro, and Vivian Montanaro; her beloved cat, Luna; along with several great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Carmella, may you rest in peace, you’ll always be in our hearts. We can rest in the hope, faith, and love that we will see you again.
A funeral mass in celebration of Carmella’s life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
