Carmella (LaRocca) Ragonese's Obituary
Carmella (LaRocca) Ragonese, 88, of Cicero, passed away at Elderwood at Liverpool on June 22, 2021. She was born in Piedimonte Etneo, Sicily, daughter of the late Ignazio and Catherina LaRocca. Carmella married Antonio Ragonese on July 4, 1953 in Sicily, started a family, while managing and working alongside her husband in his construction business.
Her interests and enjoyment included gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Carmella was a longtime member of Assumption Church and more recently, Sacred Heart Church in Cicero.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Antonio in 1993 and her brother, Benny in 2019.
Carmella is survived by two sons, Peter (Sylvia) Ragonese of Syracuse and Jerry (Dee) Ragonese of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Anthony, Robert, Samantha, Tony and Matthew; three siblings, Angie Piraino, Leonard LaRocca, Geraldine LaRocca and sister-in-law, Kathy LaRocca; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carmella’s family would like to say “Thank You” to the wonderful people at Elderwood for the great care she received there.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Carmella’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church of Cicero, followed by entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
