Carmella T. (Colosimo) Zinga's Obituary
Carmella (Colosimo) Zinga, 84, passed away at her Syracuse home in early September. Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, July 2, 1935, Babe (as she was known to family) moved to Syracuse shortly after high school following several older siblings and started work at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She then had a long career as a technician at General Electric on Electronics Parkway and finished her GE career with the military division on Court Street. After retirement from GE she refreshed her skills at CCBI and worked as an office manager at Regency Tower on James Street for a number of years. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends for many hours, driving to casinos to try her luck and be entertained, and listening to her Frank Sinatra collection.
She is predeceased by her parents Vera Gigliotti and Salvatore Colosimo; step-father Carmine Gigliotti; brothers Sam, Ralph, Ernest, Francis, and Joseph Colosimo; and step-brothers Carmen, Dominick, and James Gigliotti.
Carmella is survived by her son, Anthony (Lorraine) Zinga of Garden City, New York; grandchildren Alyssa of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Anthony of Garden City, New York; sister, Christine Goodnow of Syracuse; brother, Eugene (Mary) Colosimo of Carbondale, Pennsylvania; half-brother, John (Louise) Gigliotti of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters-in-law, Marian and Mary Colosimo of Carbondale and Syracuse; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Road) North Syracuse, NY, followed by a brief prayer service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at a later date.
