Carmen D. Ligoci's Obituary
Carmen D. Ligoci, 73, of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He was the son of the late Orlando and Margaret (Sacco) Ligoci.
Carmen always had a sense of duty. As a teenager, he helped provide for his family after the early passing of his father, and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served on the USS Tigrone submarine. After earning his Dolphins and learning the HVAC trade in the Navy, Carmen returned to CNY and pursued a successful career in the refrigeration business. He began working at ABC Refrigeration as the only service technician and within a few years became the owner and operator. Continuing to fulfill his sense of duty to his family, community and employees, Carmen worked hard to build a business that he would one day pass on to his son, Joseph. Today ABC employs more than 150 people and builds and services some of the region’s favorite stores and restaurants.
Outside of work, Carmen appreciated antique cars, rock and roll music, a good joke, and always knew when a slot machine was about to hit. But most of all, it was the people around him that he loved the most.
In addition to his parents, Carmen is preceded in death by his siblings: Florence Santoferrera, Anthony Ligoci, Patricia Taylor, James Ligoci, and Albert Ligoci.
Carmen is survived by his wife, Yvonne M. (Coleman) Ligoci; three adult children, Joseph C. (Andrea) Ligoci of Cicero, Tammy L. (Scott) Deegan of Clay, and Kari M. (Rick) Clark of Cicero; eight grandchildren, Joseph, Nicole, Jessie, Kathryn, Richard, Maggie, Patrick, and J.J.; two step-daughters Alicia (John) Briggs of Manlius, and Heather Swift of Washington, D.C.; eight siblings, Dolores Perotti, Orlando (Sharon) Ligoci, Thomas (Sharon) Ligoci, Joseph (Carmen) Ligoci, Rose Maples, Margaret (Clifford) McIlroy, Mary (Michael) Grabowski, and Deborah Gane; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless others whom Carmen made feel like family over the years.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. Funeral Services to follow. Friends and family are also invited to celebrate and remember Carmen’s life and legacy over food and music at Fireside Inn, Baldwinsville, beginning at 5 PM.
