Carmen A. Mufale's Obituary
Carmen A. Mufale, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sicily and immigrated to the United States in 1947 where he lived the American Dream. He married Domenica Utano in 1949 and together they founded Mufale Builders, Inc. His company built thousands of homes for families in Central New York and is responsible for the creation of many suburban communities. He was a well-respected businessman, a member of CNY Homebuilders Association and a lifelong director of that organization. Carmen enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Carmen touched so many lives with his caring, thoughtful and generous ways. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anna (Arena) Mufale and his sister, Florence Peterson. Carmen is survived by his loving wife, Domenica "Dee" (Utano) Mufale. He is also survived by his five children, Joseph B. (Gayle) Mufale of Brewerton, Mary C. (Frank) Malvasi of Fayetteville, Anne (Arthur) Palermo of Fayetteville, Elaine Bleiler of Fayetteville and Laure (Stephen) Bortel of Fayetteville; thirteen grandchildren, Corrin, Carmen, Amber, Tina, Anthony, Nicholas, Matthew, Michael, Max, Benjamin, Christopher, Andrew and Marissa; a great-grandson, Matthew; a brother, Joseph (Rose) Murffyn of Liverpool; a sister, Frances Rappazzo of Brewerton along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY.
