Carmen Panto's Obituary
Carmen Panto, 84, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Frank and Mary (Donato) Panto. Carmen graduated from North High School. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he received a Purple Heart. Carmen retired as a machinist from General Electric after many years of service. He volunteered as an usher at the Civic Center. His faith was very important to him and attended Novena’s every Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Carmen loved to travel to Myrtle Beach every winter with his buddies to play golf. He also loved being with family and going to dinner with his senior friends.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Joseph (Margaret) Panto, John (Jeannette) Panto and Thomas (Hilda) Panto; sisters, Mary (Tony) Stefanski and Concetta (Tony) Sartorio.
Carmen is survived by his sister, Rosemary Panto of Syracuse; his brother, Norman (Pina) Panto of Thousand Oaks, CA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Carmen’s life at 9:30 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
