Carmen C. Vecchio, Sr.'s Obituary
Carmen C. Vecchio, Sr., 90, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Iroquois Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 22, 2015. A life resident, Carmen was the Produce Manager at Grand Union, Chicago Market and then Peter’s Market. He was a great sports fan and an avid New York Yankee supporter. Carmen loved spending time with family and his many friends who meant the world to him.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (Giambattista) Vecchio; his parents, Salvatore and
Carmella (LaRosa) Vecchio; his sister, Lena Laguzza and his brother, Joseph Vecchio.
Carmen is survived by his daughter, Carmella (James) Kroeger of Buffalo; his son, Carmen (Jeanine) Vecchio, Jr. of Syracuse; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Hogue, James (Molly) Kroeger and Nicholas Vecchio, 2 great-great-grandchildren, Gianna Marie Hogue and Luke Anthony Hogue; his brother, Sam (Diane) Vecchio of Liverpool; his sister, Rosalie (Frank) Kunsman of Baldwinsville, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carmen’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Iroquois Nursing Home, 2nd Floor for their loving care and support.
A calling hour for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 9:45 am to 10:45 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Carmen’s life at 11:00 am. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
