Carol J. (Grabowski) Cardamone's Obituary
Carol J. (Grabowski) Cardamone, 72, passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer over the past five years; it was a battle that she did not choose, yet handled with amazing grace. Carol was born on August 28, 1951 in Elmira, NY to the late Joseph and Barbara (Shaw) Grabowski. She worked for the New York Telephone Company from 1970 and retired in 1996 from Bell Atlantic.
On August 13, 1983 she married the love of her life, Steve Cardamone, and together they enjoyed many boating excursions on their beloved boat, “The Bajon”, stays at their homes on Cayuga Lake, NY and Jupiter Island, FL, and numerous visits to the Turning Stone Casino and Atlantic City, NJ. Carol loved the NY Yankees and recently enjoyed attending games with her children while seeking treatment in NYC. She chose to truly enjoy her life and live it to the absolute fullest; she made many cherished memories, especially this past summer on Cayuga and Little Lake. She loved her children and grandchildren, and we were all blessed to have received her love and to shower her with ours. Carol could make you laugh out loud with her witty, funny personality; her blue eyes would sparkle when she smiled and will be greatly missed and forever loved.
She is predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. Cardamone in 2021, her sister-in-law, Sharon Grabowski, and her beloved dog, Maci Jo.
Carol is survived by her children, Corey (Kim) Bourgeois and their children, Zach, Bailey, Molly (Chad), Charlie, Cullen and great-granddaughter, Kaiyden; Michele (Gary) Southard and their children, Jack (Savanna), Meg (Andrew), and Sofia; Kristi (Cullen) McCann and their children, Hayden and Kori; Scott (Shelly) Cardamone and their children, Scott II (Neveah) and Ryan; her brother, Thomas (Lisa) Grabowski; her sister, Pam (Ken) Lewis; her brother-in-law, Benny (Patty) Cardamone; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amanda Sidle and the rest of the Oncology Team at Cayuga Medical, and to the many friends who have been with Carol and her family along the way.
Carol will be laid to rest with a private family burial alongside her husband, Steve and dog, Maci. A celebration of life will memorialize Carol in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol’s memory may be made to the Kelly Elizabeth Stage Memorial Scholarship through The Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc.
