Carol Ann (McGowan) Fenocchi's Obituary
Carol Ann (McGowan) Fenocchi, 82, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2022, at The Nottingham. She was born in Utica, NY, daughter of the late Nicholas and Katherine (Halpin) McGowan. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Fenocchi in 2012.
Carol led a full and active life with many interests and hobbies. An avid golfer, Carol spent time with close friends enjoying the sport that she loved. Despite the increasing limitations of her declining eyesight to macular degeneration, it was not in Carol’s nature to give up any activity that she loved. Carol was always ready to join in and be a part of anything that involved the gathering of friends and especially family. Fear or complaining was not part of her DNA. If the old way of going about her life was no longer possible, Carol would adapt and figure out a new way.
This girl with such spunk and moxie was Carol Ann McGowan. The love of her life- Bob Fenocchi pursued this sweetheart from Utica NY at an early age. They started their courtship at Panther Lake NY spending summers together at their respective family cottages. Many fun summers full of being young and in love led to their engagement and the beginnings of the beautiful love story of Bob and Carol. Together they built a wonderful life with their three children and grandchildren whom she adored and cherished to her last breath. A tremendous empty space in our hearts will be felt by all who deeply love this bold, vivacious, and kind woman.
Carol is survived by her son, Jeff (Paulette) Fenocchi; two daughters, Kathy (Gareth) Edwards and Christine (Andrew) Matthews; five grandchildren, Jacob, Tessa, Brittany, Katie and Christopher; and her nephew, Guy (Deana) Fenocchi.
Gratitude is extended by the Fenocchi family for the loving support of friends and family while Carol faced this life’s final battle. Special thanks go to her primary caregiver, Nicole Powless, who tirelessly cared for Carol until the end.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minoa, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
