Dr. Carol Berrigan was an inspiration to her colleagues and students alike as a key spokesperson for the inclusion of children and adults with disabilities in all aspects of life. She also fought tirelessly for social justice, civil rights, and international peace through her lifetime. She and her husband Jerry were part of the courageous Berrigan family who were leading figures in the antiwar movement, especially during the American War in Vietnam years. Through it all, Carol was the center of her family, making certain her children would always be a priority even as she battled for social justice for all. She was kind to everyone, and I will always remember how she so warmly welcomed me onto the Syracuse University faculty with open arms and respect. She made the world around her a better place.
