Catherine (Grammatico) Adamo

Catherine Adamo, also known as Tina, or Nona as she was known, passed away peacefully at her daughter and son-in-law’s home on May 15, 2025. Originally from Tunisia, she was born on September 30,1931 to the late Joseph and Marie Grammatico. In 1956, she then immigrated through Ellis Island to reside in Syracuse for many years before moving to Liverpool. She worked as a seamstress at Learbury clothing for over 10 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom when her third child was born. Some of her happiest years were spent with her husband traveling to Italy and France to visit relatives and enjoying winters at their Florida condo. Catherine always enjoyed cooking for the family, and we rarely missed a Sunday dinner around her table. However, her greatest happiness was her grandchildren. She told many that “I lived my life, and I was able to take care of my grandchildren”. She did just that and has provided a lifetime of memories. The last four years were spent living with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. In their home is where they made her final years the happiest with many memories and new experiences. She would frequently participate in social gatherings with friends and family including birthday surprises she thoroughly enjoyed. Catherine was religious and possessed a wealth of wisdom which she eagerly shared with others. She will be forever loved and missed by her loved ones and those fortunate enough to have known her. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicolino Adamo in 2000; her son, Andre Adamo and daughter, Anna Marie; and siblings, Rosaire and Frank Grammatico. Catherine is survived by her daughter, Joanne (Steve) Morgan; three grandchildren, Andre (Leanna), Abigail and Victoria; two great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Andre Nicolino; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved dog, Miranda. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice and other private aides for the loving care given to “Nona” during the last few months of her life. A funeral Mass in celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Epiphany Parish (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church) 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool, NY. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR.
