Catherine F. "Katie" Polimeni's Obituary
Catherine F. “Katie” Polimeni, 99, of Syracuse, passed away June 16, 2025 at Loretto Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Carmelo and Carmela (Regitano) Polimeni. Katie graduated from North High School and retired from Kemper Insurance after 45 dedicated years and received the Insurance Woman of the Year Award. She was a member of the Insurance Women’s Golf and Bowling Leagues. Katie was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church and a member of the Legion of Mary. She also served as Eucharistic Minister and Trustee. Katie was a lifelong SU fan and loved traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Rose (John) Pace, Josephine (Joseph) Graziano, Mary (Joseph) Gilbert and Anthony Polimeni.
Katie is survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemary Polimeni; 11 nieces and nephews, Maria Pace, John (Amy) Pace, Michael (Toni) Pace, Paul Graziano, Frank Gilbert, Joseph (Karen) Gilbert, Mary Catherine (Kevin) Pugh, Marc (Diane) Gilbert, Stephen Gilbert, Maria Rautins, and Dana (Norman) St. Jacques; 13 great-nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great- nephews.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Katie’s life will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. She will be privately laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Friday, June 20, 2025 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
