Catherine "Katie" (Rizzo) Tumolo's Obituary
Catherine “Katie” Tumolo, 89, of Jacksonville, Fl., passed away Sunday at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Sam and Mary (Cusamona) Rizzo. Katie married the love of her life, Michael, on May 8, 1948 and together they resided in East Syracuse for many years before his passing in 1991. She retired as a sales clerk from Dey Brother’s Department Store. Katie was a fantastic homemaker, excellent cook and loved spending time with her family, who always enjoyed her good food. She also loved dancing, singing, traveling and trips to the casino. Katie had a great sense of humor and loved to be happy, living life to the fullest.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Michael Tumolo on May 10, 1991; brothers, Phil (Margaret) Rizzo and Rosario “Ray” (Charlotte) Rizzo; sisters, Marian (Phil) Feliceangeli and Anne (Tom) Celentano.
Katie is survived by her two sons, Ralph (Patricia) Tumolo of Virginia Beach, VA and Salvatore (Bobbie) Tumolo of San Clemente, CA; two grandsons, Michael (Brandon) of Jacksonville, FL and Matthew (Camille) of San Clemente, CA; her granddaughter, Michelle (Vanessa) of Orange, CA; her brother, Sam (Teresa) Rizzo of Syracuse, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Katie’s life at 9:00 am in St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
