Catherine (Amato) Smallwood's Obituary
Catherine (Amato) Smallwood, 94, of Syracuse, passed away Monday at James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on April 16, 1919 in Manlius, NY and graduated from Manlius High School. Catherine lived in the Syracuse area most of her life while working as a waitress at various restaurants. After marrying Wallace, together they were the owners and operators of a local newspaper in Silver Creek, NY.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Wallace Smallwood in 1984 and her step-son, Stephen Smallwood. Catherine is survived by her step-daughter, Nancy Schneider of Millville, NJ and her step-son, Richard (Beth) Smallwood of Virginia; 3 sisters, Josephine (Robert) Morrison of Liverpool, Stella Vecchio of Liverpool and Theresa (Joseph) Rigali of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Maurice Amato of California; several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 am in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
