Catherine A. Surace's Obituary
Catherine A. Surace, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Archbald, PA, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Antoinette (Sicary) Surace. Catherine was an Inspector with Syracuse China for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Jude, Holy Trinity and St. Vincent de Paul. Catherine was an avid bowler and was active and held various titles with the Woman’s International Bowling Congress. She was also instrumental in bringing the Junior Bowling league to Syracuse. Catherine was a long time member of T.O.P.S. and enjoyed Bingo and gambling.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Santo Surace and sister, Concetta
Saia.
Catherine is survived by her sisters, Anna Marie (Theodore) Basile of Pompey and Lucille Indivero of Syracuse; her brother, Carmen (Mary) Surace of North Syracuse; several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Catherine’s life at noon in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
