Charles A. "Chuck" Florczyk, Sr.'s Obituary
Charles A. “Chuck” Florczyk, Sr., 70, of Liverpool, went home to begin his new journey on June 26, 2016. He was born in Syracuse, NY to Edward J. and Ida (Mott) Florczyk on June 22, 1946 and was predeceased by infant brother Edward Florczyk, Jr.
Charles served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army 2nd Armored Division and Military Police during the Vietnam War. He attended Onondaga Community College, was a private investigator prior to joining the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department. In the beginning of his career with the Sheriff's Department he was a Counter Sniper on the department's 1st SWAT team.
The majority of his 40 year career was devoted to undercover operations and major crime cold case investigations joint operations with the Organized Crime Task Force of the State Police and the FBI and DEA as well as Home Land Security. He was the recipient of numerous awards including Sheriff's Dept. Medal of Distinction, District Attorney's Advisory Council Distinguished Service Award, WTVH TV 5 Gold Badge Award 1977 and 1982, and recognition for many years of dedicated and outstanding service as a member on the CNY DEA Task Force just to name a few.
Following retirement Chuck was the owner of CMF Enterprize Distinctive Jewelry traveling extensively with his wife Connie and designing some of the most unique jewelry ever seen.
Family was first and foremost in his life. An avid boater, he enjoyed summers fishing with family and grandchildren on Oneida Lake and spending over 40 years of family vacations at Wildwood Crest, NJ. His winter months were spent traveling with his wife to Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and of course hunting with his son. He was a member of the NYS Big Buck Club - an honor that he was very proud of.
Surviving to carry on the memory of this amazing man is his wife of 46 years, Connie (Mangicaro) Florczyk; sons, Don (Tina) Florczyk of N. Syracuse and Charles Jr. (Sandy) Florczyk of Cicero; daughter-in-law, Lynn Florczyk of Cicero; along with pride and joys of his life, grandchildren, Tori and Kyle Florczyk of N. Syracuse; Tyler and Lexi Spencer of Cicero; Riley, Ethan and Madison Florczyk of Cicero.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Charles’ life at 10:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
