Charles E. Fortino, Sr.'s Obituary
Charles E. Fortino, Sr., 83, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday in St. Joseph’s Hospital. A life resident, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Charles worked in the produce industry at the Regional Market for over 65 years and spent 60 of those years with the Russo family where he retired as a supervisor.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Ellie (Briggs) Fortino; four brothers, Leo, Fred, Victor, and Robert; and his sister, Eloise Whedon.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Edith (Wilson) Fortino; two sons, Charles E. (Renee) Fortino, Jr. and Joseph M. (Norma Jean) Fortino, both of Liverpool; two grandchildren, Steven and Andrew Fortino; his sister, Gloria (Michael) Ball, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
