Charles T. Lanty's Obituary
Charles T. Lanty, 87, of Mattydale, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, NY, to the late Raymond and Loretta (Guthier) Lanty. Charles was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. Upon being honorably discharged, Charles started his dedicated career of 36 years with the U.S. Postal service as a letter carrier. He enjoyed watching sports, reading, bowling, and solving puzzles. Above all, Charles enjoyed spending time with his beloved family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife; Dorothy (Jennings) Lanty, and a brother; Raymond Lanty, Jr.
Charles is survived by his 7 daughters, Cristen Catherman, Barbara (Scott) Myers, Debra Lanty, Cynthia Richert, Brenda (Dan) Luoma, Marsha Richway, and Donna (David) Huffman; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother; George Lanty; a sister, Ruth Meaker; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY, followed by a funeral service in celebration of Charles’ life at 6:15 P.M. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest beside his wife Dorothy in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.
