Charles A. "Geno" Schwartz's Obituary
Charles A. "Geno" Schwartz , 75, of Baldwinsville, died Saturday at home with his loving family by his bedside. He loved life and always had a smile and a helping hand for everyone. He was a “Man’s Man!” Charles grew up in Syracuse and graduated from Smith Tech High School. He started out as a carpenter for Flood Construction Company in Dewitt, NY. They built homes for the Syracuse Nationals and put in Song Mountain. He was a 30 year Teamster and a 13 year Union Steward. He was a long-distance driver for Interstate Motor Freight and a doubles driver for St. Johnsbury. He retired from New Venture Gear. After he retired, he drove for Tri State Auto Auction as a long distance retriever for 8 years. Charles was a Boy Scout Leader and served in the Army National Guard for 12 years as a Sgt. First Class, E6 Combat Engineer in the 152nd Army Core of Engineers. He was an avid NASCAR fan and traveled the race car circuit with his family and friends. Rusty Wallace was his favorite driver. He loved his family, Joe, driving, the Adirondacks, the ocean, camping on the St Lawrence River, gardening and movies. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joy Anne (Snyder) Schwartz and two sons, Dan (Tracy) of North Syracuse and David (Ellen) of Michigan. Bye-bye baby! Love you forever! Keep On Truckin! Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road, North Syracuse, NY 13212 (Corner of Buckley). Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call 5 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
