Charles M. Tankersley's Obituary
Charles M. Tankersley, 94, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully at The Cottages at Garden Grove on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born in Hamilton, OH to the late Charles and Hazel (Poast) Tankersley. Charles retired from the U.S. Air Force after 28 dedicated years of service and following his retirement he worked as a corrections officer for Jamesville Penitentiary.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Tonia, in 2023 and his daughters, Katherine Wossner and Cynthia Metzger.
Charles is survived by his children, Michael Tankersley, David Tankersley, Susan Hatcher, and Nancy Callisto; his grandchildren, Andrew Metzger, Jeffrey Tankersley, Steven Tankersley, Mary Pulsinelli, Jessica Drake, Daniel Callisto, and Thomas Wossner; his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Gram, and Audrey Tankersley and Matthew and Katherine Wossner; his sister, Sue Spaulding; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Friday. November 7, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. (noon) immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Charles’ life at 12:00 P.M. (noon) at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a U.S. Veteran’s Charity of one’s choice.
