Cheryl (Wagner) McMahon's Obituary
Cheryl (Wagner) McMahon, 65, of Central Square, NY passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday. She was born in Syracuse, NY and was a graduate of Nottingham High School. Cheryl graduated from Medaille College and retired from the Syracuse City School District in 2004 following a 37 year teaching career. Cheryl dearly loved her family and friends and enjoyed yearly trips to Disneyworld. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Central Square, NY.
She was predeceased by her mother, Rita Fadale Wagner and twin daughters. Cheryl is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of 30 years, James McMahon of Central Square, NY; loving sons, Daniel (Orla) McMahon of Charlotte, NC and Corey McMahon of Central Square, NY. She is also survived by her sister, Dianne (Terry) Brown of Fayetteville, NY; nephews, Dr. Matthew (Amber) Brown of Fairport, NY; Adam (Taylor) Brown of Manlius, NY; cherished great-nephews, Harper, Weston ,Sawyer and Hudson Brown, and numerous loving cousins.
Cheryl's family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the 4th floor staff at St. Joseph's Hospital who treated Cheryl with dignity, kindness, and love during her recent lengthy stay. We will be forever grateful.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, 8:30 a.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 a.m. in Divine Mercy Church, formerly St. Michael's Church in Central Square, NY. Burial will follow in McMahon Cemetery, Schroeppel, NY. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Cheryl's name be made to the MAKE-A-WISH Foundation of Central New York.
