Cheryl M. (Datlo) Spina's Obituary
Cheryl M. (Datlo) Spina, 56, of North Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2019 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Syracuse and graduated from Cicero High School in 1981. Cheryl received her Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Oswego in 1985. She worked over 34 years dedicated in law enforcement, retiring as Deputy with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department. Cheryl enjoyed watching SU sports, the NY Yankees, Girl’s Night and old episodes of Law & Order with her brother Bob. Cheryl loved traveling and spending time with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her grandparents and her beloved German Shepherd, “Elvis”.
Cheryl is survived by her mother, Frances (Skrupa) Moskow; her brother, Bob Datlo; longtime companion and caregiver, John Furness; her uncle, Michael (Dawn) Skrupa; cousins, Julie Skrupa and Katie McCoy, and a host of many additional family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm at St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 S. Main St., North Syracuse, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Cheryl’s life at 12:30 pm at St. Rose of Lima Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME.
