Christa Marie Van Orman's Obituary
Christa Marie Van Orman, 82, of Mattydale, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026. She was born on August 2, 1943 in Aschaffenburg, Germany and built a life centered on family, hard work, and independence. She married William R. Van Orman on June 24, 1967, and together they shared many years of marriage and family life.
Christa most recently resided in Bridgeport, New York, though her heart was always at Kasoag Lake, NY, where she spent cherished years with family and friends. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed cross-country skiing and canoeing with her family. Christa was known for her strong work ethic, independent spirit, and love for her dogs. Those who knew her will remember her strength and determination.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sabine Terranova; her husband, William R. Van Orman; and her sister, Irmgard Schroeder.
Christa is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Mitch Ely) Hill; her son, William C. (Ruthie) Van Orman; her son-in-law, Michael Terranova; her grandchildren, Caitrin and Colleen Van Orman, Jeffery Terranova, and Katelynn Dumigan; her two great-grandchildren; her brother, Hugo Karl Schuck, of Germany; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In accordance with Christa’s wishes, there will be no formal services held.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Christa’s memory are encouraged to donate to their local animal rescue organization.
