Christine (Guerra) Vannelli's Obituary
Christine G. Vannelli, 98, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Francis House. Christine was born in Solvay, NY to Angela (DeIulio) and Isaia Guerra on May 2, 1919. She was a graduate of Vocational High School and Syracuse Secretarial School. Prior to her marriage, she worked for Aetna Insurance. Married in 1942, Christine devoted her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, opera, traveling, volunteering, and her beloved Yankees. Christine was a communicant of All Saints (formerly St. Therese) Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and St. Peters Seniors Club.
She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Pasquale (Pat) Vannelli.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Bernadette Vannelli of Syracuse; sons, Joseph (Nadine) of Gilbert, AZ, and James (Marilynn) of Syracuse; grandchildren, Thomas, Robert, Patrick, Maria (O’Meara), Joseph, Mark, and William; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Rosemary Tuttle, Camille Barboni, and Anne Proia; 1 nephew, and 2 nieces.
Calling hours are Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 9:30 – 10:00 AM at All Saints Church, 1340 Lancaster Ave., Syracuse, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Christine’s life at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks for the extraordinary loving care Christine received at Francis House these last few weeks.
