Christopher B. Lyman's Obituary
Christopher B. Lyman, 68, a long-time resident of Watertown, passed away on December 30, 2021 in Syracuse.
Chris, the son of Frederick and Phyllis Lyman, was educated at parochial schools in Watertown and Massena. He furthered his education at JCC and George Mason University. While in high school, he played on his schools’ football and baseball teams. He retained a love of baseball throughout his life, following the Yankees and coaching youth teams.
His work life included stints as a referee-clad bartender at the Ramada Inn during the disco era, managing IHOPS in Virginia, and crushing rocks at Vespa’s pits.
Prodded by his mother, who was active in the Watertown Little Theatre for decades, Chris participated in local theater. He played a curmudgeon in one production, a perfect example of typecasting.
Chris was an avid reader and was seldom without a book at his side.
He is survived by his son Aaron, his former wife Deborah and her children Christopher and Carrie, his brothers Frank, Timothy, Philip, Stephen, Jerome and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Nicholas and Daniel.
A spring internment is planned.
