Claire E. (Rosemellia) Fofi's Obituary
Claire E. (Rosemellia) Fofi, 91, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully April 15, 2026, at Loretto. Born in Carbondale, PA, daughter of the late Pasquale and Clara (Greto) Rosemellia, Claire’s family was her life. Claire was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a longtime communicant of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Daniel J. Fofi in 2015; as well as eight brothers and sisters.
Claire is survived by her children, David (Virginia) Fofi, Geraldine (George) Downey, and Daniel (Lynn) Fofi; seven grandchildren; niece, Michele (Daniel) Giarrusso, nephew, Anthony Vadala; and several cousins.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Claire’s life will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 259 E. Onondaga St., Syracuse. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) Syracuse, NY 13212.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Claire’s memory may be made to the Buckley Landing Assisted Living Facility, 7430 Buckley Rd. Syracuse, NY 13212.
