Concetta "Connie" Castellini's Obituary
Concetta “Connie” (Mangano) Castellini, 91, of Syracuse passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at The Centers at St. Camillus. She was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Salvatore and Antonina (LaRosa) Mangano. Connie graduated North High in 1948 where her friends referred to her as “blue eyes.” During her early adult years, she enjoyed traveling with her friends. Connie worked at New York Telephone and became a homemaker after having her kids. She returned to work as a school crossing guard for the City of Syracuse, where she watched over many neighborhood children and eventually retired from a job she genuinely loved. Connie enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, and spending time with her family and friends.
Connie was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore, and Antonina (LaRosa) Mangano and her brother, Natale Mangano. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ferman Castellini; her daughters, Joanne (Steve) VanAuken and Judy (Billy) Wells; four granddaughters; a great-grandson; brother- and sister-in-law’s, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home, 3401 Vickery Road in North Syracuse, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 9:00 am at the funeral home and 10 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
