Conrad J. Mirizio's Obituary
Conrad J. Mirizio, 86, of Liverpool, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Syracuse Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse and graduated from North High School where he was an outstanding 3 sport athlete in basketball, baseball and football, playing on the 1947 championship football team. Conrad was inducted in the North High Hall of Fame in 2010. He received his Associates degree from Morrisville where he continued to play sports and was later inducted into the Morrisville Athletic Wall of Fame in 1997. Conrad retired as a supervisor after 36 years of service from American Airlines in 1987. He was a long time parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and was also a charter member of the NYS Amateur Softball Hall of Fame. Conrad enjoyed SU sports, watching the NY Giants and NY Yankees; was an avid golfer and was very proud of his 4 holes-in-one. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, which included over 20 years wintering in Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Angelina (LaGrasta) Mirizio; his brother,
Joseph (Ann) Mirizio and his sister, Marie (Carl) Sassano.
Conrad is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Edna (Coleman) Mirizio; six children, Thomas (Mona) Mirizio, Diane (Mike) Egan, Daniel (Robyn) Mirizio, Leonard (Michelle) Mirizio, Ronald Mirizio and Carol (Scott) Bitz; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Conrad spent 3 years at Syracuse Home where he was treated with the greatest of respect, dignity and love by an outstanding staff.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Conrad’s life at 9:00 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will be private. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
