Constance C. "Connie" Smithers' Obituary
Constance “Connie” (Creno) Smithers, 81, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Francis House. Connie was born in Syracuse to the late Frank and Anna (Schillaci) Creno and a 1959 graduate from North High School. Connie worked as an equity manager for CIS Corporation for many years until her retirement. She loved to visit with her North High classmates, play golf at Westhill Golf & Country Club, mahjong with friends, a member of the Geddes Seniors, was an exceptional cook and especially enjoyed hosting her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings, Michael Creno and Jennie Rein.
Connie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Floyd “Skip” Smithers; her children, Chris (Colleen) Smithers, Susanne Smithers, Stephen Smithers, Eric Smithers, and Kenneth Smithers; her grandchildren, Aric Szatanek, Rian, Rosalie, Joseph, Ethan, Samuel, and Sarah Smithers, Benjamin and Alexander Johnson; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Francis House and the Upstate University Neurological Unit for their exceptional care of Connie.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 4 – 6 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. A funeral mass in celebration of Connie’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday December 28, 2022, in Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St. Syracuse. A private burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery.
