Constance "Connie" (Spink) Sydorak's Obituary
Constance “Connie” (Spink) Sydorak passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 8th, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Connie was predeceased in May of 2018 by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Phil. Connie is survived by her son, John Patchett (Nichole), a step-daughter, Heather Lawless (Michael), and four grandchildren: Cory (Jamie), Kyle, Hailey and Hunter. Connie is also survived by three sisters: Cheryl (Greg), Joan (Mark) and Sandra, a brother, David (Marsha) and former daughter-in-law, Shelley (Vance) Lederman and a number of nieces and nephews. She was also “Grandma Connie” to Lexi, Lucas and Tanner. Connie was also predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Lily, and a brother, James.
Connie was a life-long resident of Syracuse, born in 1939. She attended Nottingham High School. Connie devoted her life to her son and husband, spending much of her time cooking dinners and baking homemade desserts (none of which she ate!). When her grandchildren were born, Connie doted on them, babysitting, baking them goodies, and buying them new outfits whenever she was left in charge. Family and friends were always greeted with a loving hug and welcomed for a home-cooked meal, surely to be accompanied with lots of laughs.
Connie enjoyed gardening when she was not in the kitchen, although her favorite hobby was shopping. Connie’s weekly routine included daily trips to Wegmans, and at least a few trips to Kohl’s and Macy’s, purchasing things she knew she didn’t need. Connie’s defense was that she could always find a good sale, and that gave us all a good chuckle!
Connie will be remembered for her small stature, although she had a giant personality and always appreciated a great joke or story from the past.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 1pm - 4pm, immediately followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of Connie’s life at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
